Key findings

Business leaders have a key role in rebuilding societal trust. Businesses are seen as more trustworthy than politicians, NGOs and the media. Speaking out authentically on issues that matter to your people is more important than ever.

Company culture is at a ‘watershed’ moment. Culture is not static. As we move out of the pandemic, a more human- focused approach is required.

Purposeful work is a cross-generational desire..... but Gen Z is leading. Nearly half of Gen Z would take a 20% pay cut to work at a purpose-based organisation fitting their values.

Think of your people as individuals. More and more organisations are creating different employee value propositions for different demographics. Your people are not an homogenous group with one set of interests.

Authenticity and honesty make a leader. Getting your people to believe in your mission requires authenticity and trust. It’s okay to not have all the answers, but communicating that effectively is the key.

Difficult conversations make inclusion easier. Inclusion isn’t about everybody agreeing on everything, but rather it's about opinions being respected. Encouraging difficult conversations is the essence of good management.

Belonging is good for business. Employees who feel a sense of belonging perform better, stay longer and take fewer sick days. Post-pandemic, the importance of belonging is even stronger.

Wellbeing is about more than free yoga and virtual drinks. Employees expect mental health provision, flexibility and a level of autonomy to be built into their working lives.
